Is the Collective only for women?
The Collective is a community of women and men. The collective seeks to serve women by celebrating, empowering, and equipping them - but everyone is invited to participate in the celebrating, empowering and equipping!
Who approved this initiative? Is it a National Initiative?
Yes! The Collective was initiated by Rev. Dave Hearn during his presidency, and is being carried on by and has the full support of the National Ministry Center and the Board of Directors.
Why women’s leadership, and not just “leadership”?
Women, with their God-given gifts, have a lot to offer our church community and our mission - but we know by looking at our own statistics that they are underrepresented in leadership positions in our denomination. While there are (or will be) other initiatives to support leadership in the Alliance, the Collective was born out of this recognition that there is a need to support women specifically in order to better include the whole people of God in His work around the globe.
I’m a woman leader [or recent university/seminary graduate] not licenced with the Alliance but I’m looking for opportunities - who should I talk to?
Please sign up for communications from us - there is a section in the sign-up to let us know you’re looking for opportunities so we can get you in touch with the right people.
I’ve been a leader in the Alliance for a while and I want to support this initiative - how do I do that? For now, start by signing up for communications with us! The sign-up gives you an option to self-identify as someone looking to support us through mentorship etc. When we’re ready, we’ll include you in that way.
I’m a woman leader looking for support - how do I get connected?
We want to encourage you! Please let us know what you need with our communications sign-up and we’ll be in touch when we’ve got some support in place. Keep your eyes open for upcoming opportunities to connect - especially at Assembly 2022.
I’m a woman leader and I’m feeling uncertain about the Collective - is it really for me?
Our vision is to see ALL Alliance women and their gifts championed, regardless of your approach to ministry or your convictions around the role of women in the church. It is the conviction of the Collective that all women are valuable and needed in the work of God’s kingdom. You are of course welcome to engage with the Collective as you are comfortable.
What are some helpful resources to read around the topic of women in leadership and the church? We are working on compiling an informal list of resources & recommendations from various members of the Collective (pastors, leaders, university professors etc). Link coming soon!
