South Asians in a training centre, learning scripture.

In South Asia, our partners train men and women to plant faith communities through a five-week course at a training centre. The training centres are changing lives. Men and women are being trained and released back to their communities to plant churches. Disciples are making disciples, and one of them is Ramesh.* Ramesh comes from a traditional Punjabi family, is married with four kids, and also runs a small business—but he was looking for more. His business was not doing well, he had problems in his family, and it seemed like he couldn’t find peace anywhere. He felt like there was no one to help him out of his situation, and he was fighting alone.

Everything changed when he met a social worker with whom he shared his problems. As they continued to meet, the social worker slowly and consistently shared with him the love Jesus.

Ramesh felt like he had hope for the first time in a long time. As a result of regular counselling, he began to slowly experience change in his life. His business moved back on track; his family problems were less overwhelming.

He finally had peace in his life. He even shared Jesus with his family—and they all became believers. Ramesh says, “I am so grateful because I was at a point where I was about to lose all hope, but then I found new hope when I met Jesus. It helped me to rebuild my life and family. It also gave me a new purpose, and to fulfil that purpose, I came to the training centre to study more about this new way. For the past five years, I have been sharing Jesus in my community. And I wanted to reach out to more people. The training is helping me to learn new things so that I can achieve my goal.” Just as he did in the lives of the disciples on the road to Emmaus, God is doing surprising things in South Asia and spreading his kingdom in ways we don’t expect.
