The Justice and Compassion office oversees the C&MA's engagement in:
Emergency Response: We can't often predict where and when they will happen, but we know there are always new global emergencies waiting in the wings. To ensure that we are ready to help immediately, the C&MA has an active emergency fund that expedites designated gifts to where they are needed right away.
Alliance Chaplains: Chaplains represent Christ in the midst of everyday life and in extraordinary circumstances. They are hands-on when it comes to engaging people in need of comfort, direction, healing, and encouragement. These versatile men and women provide pastoral care in a wide variety of community and government organizations.
Parish Nurse: Parish nursing points people to Jesus as our Great Physician. It is a ministry of healing for those who seek to be whole in body, mind, and spirit. It offers the compassion and care of a Christ-centered registered nurse (RN) and promotes congregational health, wholeness, and well-being.
Disability Ministries: Disability Ministries seeks to support and encourage the inclusion of persons with disabilities in the life and work of the Church. This ministry begins with a heart of compassion by providing creative solutions for inclusive participation in church programming.
Refugee Sponsorship: Each year, millions of people around the world are forced to flee their homeland to escape persecution, war, or severe human rights abuses. Often, these people are permanently displaced and are never able to return home. Currently, there are more than 15 million refugees worldwide.
Defend Dignity: Defend Dignity acts as a catalyst for individuals and churches to end sexual exploitation in Canada. Commercial sexual exploitation includes: pornography, strip clubs, escorts, massage parlors, and prostitution. All involve the selling of sexual services, which undermine the dignity of women, men, and children and are detrimental to a healthy society.
Faith and Hope in Action Gift Catalogue: The Faith and Hope in Action gift catalogue is more than a guide to giving; it’s an opportunity to learn, to pray, and to reflect on Scriptures that reflect God’s heart of compassion. We invite you to participate with us in extending dignity and hope to people who live on the margins of society through individual donations or larger group fundraising.
40 Days of Faith and Hope in Action Devotional: 40 Days of Faith and Hope in Action is an opportunity to participate in a spiritual practice of prayer, fasting, and charity. We encourage all who participate to intentionally commit to prayerfully listen to God's Word and invite the Holy Spirit to guide you as you examine your daily decisions.
Resource Kit: To find out how your church can become involved with our Justice and Compassion ministries, we've assembled a helpful resource kit complete with ideas, links, and information related to justice and compassion. Inside, you'll find helpful information about the ministries we support.
End Hunger: The Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada is one of 15 denominations and church-based agencies that makes up the Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFGB). They pool resources, both human and financial, and work collaboratively together in a Christian response to global hunger.
