Call for candidates for the position for district superintendent of the CCD

The Committee on Nominations for the 2023 District Conference of the Central Canadian District (May 30-June 1, 2023) is prepared to receive expression of interest from candidates who wish to be considered for nomination to the position of District Superintendent.  The CCD is a group of faith communities that are deeply distinct but remarkably alike as we seek to be vibrant expressions of the Gospel led by healthy leaders whose hearts have been captured by the mission of Jesus in the world today.

Candidates of interest will be persons of exemplary character and spiritual maturity, who are active members of an Alliance church and are capable of providing spiritual and organizational leadership on behalf of The Alliance Canada for a complex, ethnically-diverse family of almost 70 churches and ministries located in the south, central and northwestern parts of Ontario.

We would value a leader who has a strong sense of dependence upon, and who seeks to live under, the Lordship of Jesus Christ.  The capacity to articulate what a fully devoted life to Christ and His church looks like, and evidence of fulfilling that call in their personal journey is essential to being considered for this role.  A significant history of leadership in and through the local church is also essential.  A knowledge and appreciation of the four-fold gospel of the Alliance Canada is critical to leading our churches into the fullness of the ministry God has called us to.

These are the values within the CCD that, as we look to elect a DS, ought to be reflected in the person God brings to lead and should be held up moving forward:

  1. A passion for Spirit-empowered leadership that also motivates and develops others
  2. Capacity to engage with leaders and churches from a theological framework
  3. An appreciation of the unique diversity that defines Ontario and the CCD.
  4. A deep desire to live a missionally engaged life
  5. A commitment to leadership that creatively reflects a team approach to ministry

Expressions of interest in the position need to be submitted to the chair of the Committee for Nominations, Rev. Steve Kerr by January 27th, 2023.  The interest needs to be accompanied by a one to two-page vision statement and a personal resume.    ([email protected])

Should your interest lead to further steps in consideration, a full candidate Profile Questionnaire will be sent to you and will need to be submitted by Feb. 20th, 2023.

Interviews and reference checks will follow should you still be in consideration by the Committee.

The Committee shall only receive expressions of interest from individuals who are committed and able to meet the criteria for a director as outlined in the corporate documents of the District, and who:

(a)  are Canadian citizens,

(b)  are approved for licensing by the C&MA in Canada before they submit their papers and,

(c)  have significant Canadian ministry leadership experience,

(d)  have completed a current criminal record check that includes a vulnerable sector check.
